Texas Flood - Stevie Ray Vaughan Inspired
Stevie Ray Vaughan has one of the most recognisable guitar tones of all time. He liked his amps, in fact he had 32 in the studio at one point. He would mix and match, combine the sounds to achieve his huge, fat signature tone.
It’s hard to put in to words, difficult to describe. It’s dry yet squelchy. Ballsy but the treble cuts through like a knife.
Stevie liked Marshalls, Fender super reverbs and the occasional Dumble amp. Not cheap! He had his own amp doctor who would tweak the transformers, filter caps and tubes adding further difficulty to achieving the mystery sound.
It’s the holy grail of tone and almost impossible to recreate but with the Helix we can get closer than ever. I’ve scoured forums and gear pages to acquire knowledge on how to best replicate his amps, effects and eq with the humble Helix. Have a listen and give it a try!
